In 2002, the European Directive RoHS (Restriction of use of certain Hazardous Substances) was adopted to limit the use of 6 hazardous substances in the WEEE: Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Hexavalent Chromium, Polybromodiphenyl ethers and Polybromodiphenyl ethers
In replacement of "RoHS 1", in 2011 the EU issued the RoHS 2 directive. The new directive (2011/65 / EU) was incorporated in the National legislation with Presidential Decree 114 / 17.06.2013 (Government Gazette 147A). This Directive acts in conjunction with Directive 2002/96 / EC (WEEE Directive: Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment).
The revised directive aims to improve implementation and enforcement and is more in line with other EU legislation such as REACH and the new legal framework for product marketing.
