According to Regulation 528/2012 / EU (BPR: Biocidal Products Regulation) which since 2013 has replaced Directive 8/1998 / EC, the disposal of biocidal products is allowed if they have received a relevant permit in accordance with existing legislation.
Biocides are divided into 4 groups that include a total of 22 types of biocidal products (IT):
Main group 1 "Disinfectants". . Includes product types: TP1 "Human hygiene", TP2 "Disinfectants and pesticides not intended for direct application to humans or animals", TP3 "Veterinary hygiene", TP4 "Food and feed areas", TP5 "Drinking water".
Main group 2 "Conservatives".. Includes product types: TP6 "Preservatives for stored products", TP7 "Membrane preservatives", TP8 "Wood preservatives", TP9 "Fiber, leather, rubber and polymer preservatives", TP10 "Building material preservatives", TP11 Systems cooling and processing ", TP12" Gliocides ", TP13" Preservatives for processing and cutting fluids ".
Main group 3 "Pest control products". . Includes product types: TP14 "Rodenticides", TP15 "Pesticides", TP16 "Mollicides, worms and other invertebrate control products", TP17 "Fishicides", TP18 "Insecticides, acaricides and other insecticides, products Repulsive and attractive ", TP20" Control of other vertebrates ".
Main group 4 "Other biocides". . Includes product types: TP21 "Anti-pollution coatings", TP22 "Fluids for embalming and embalming"
In Greece, the competent control authority for biocidal products belonging to product types 8, 9, 10, 12 to 21 is the Department of Plant Protection of the Ministry of Rural Development, while for product types 1 to 7, 11 and 22 competent authority is the AEO.
In our country, the competent authorities for the implementation of the regulation regarding the Types of Products of Productive Reconstruction, Environment and Energy (YPAPEN) while for the other Types of Products is the National Medicines Agency (NMA).
The legal circulation of biocidal products requires a marketing authorization issued upon submission of a relevant biocidal product dossier. There are four licensing options:
- National License
- Mutual Recognition
- Union License
- Simplified licensing
